Introducing the classic "Juke
Joint" Duo, The Original Delta Fireballs. This foot stompin' ensemble
was started in 2000 and is
comprised of world renowned Blues harmonica player/singer/songwriter Geneva Red (Click
for bio) and her veteran
guitarist/songwriter Jackie 5 & Dime (Click for bio) who are
well known for their band Geneva Red & The Roadsters. This outstanding Blues & Roots Music duo has performed in a variety
of venues including; Blues Festivals, Blues Clubs, Cultural Centers, Television, Hotels,
Restaurants, Taverns and Parties. They have the ability to sound like a whole band without
the use of pre-recorded music gizmos.
The Rockford Register Star writes a performance by The Original Delta Fireballs "...takes listeners on a musical journey that starts in Chicago and heads south along the Mississippi River". This duo play songs about great places like, St. Louis, Memphis, the Juke Joints of the Mississippi Delta and Arkansas, all the way down to New Orleans and back again. A "stripped down to basics" Delta Juke Joint style ensemble, these two pay homage to renowned musicians like: Aleck "Rice" Millers (Sonny Boy Williamson II) band The King Biscuit Entertainers, The Jelly Roll Kings, Slim Harpo, Juke Boy Bonner, Dr. Ross, and others. Geneva Red plays harmonica and sings, while her Roadsters guitarist Jackie 5 & Dime plays guitar and drums at the same time in the tradition of Memphis musician Joe Hill Louis and Chicago's "Baby Face" Leroy Foster. The Original Delta Fireballs form a classic sounding unit playing danceable "Juke Joint" music. This energetic rough and tumble style is well known through out the rural southern levee and plantation towns that dot the Mississippi River Delta. Having an endorsement contract with the Hohner Harmonica Company since 1998, Geneva Red is one of the worlds leading female Blues harmonica players. Red and 5 & Dime have performed with some of todays best known Blues artists, including Matt "Guitar" Murphy, Phil Guy, John Primer, Pine Top Perkins, Sam Carr, Bob Margolin, and Billy Branch to name a few. The Original Delta Fireballs have inspired young people to appreciate this truly American music by performing "Special Presentations and Workshops" at school assemblies and other community events, passing along their love for this essential musical tradition. |
